About the Event
There are never enough clothes in a girl’s wardrobe. So, how about gifting your sister a traditional silk saree or a designer salwar suit this Raksha Bandhan? National Silk Expo — an exhibition cum sale — brings together products of looms and silk sarees that are made painstakingly using traditional techniques, and come in an array of colours ranging from sunny mustard to emerald green. Whether it’s a Kanjeevaram or a Banarasi silk, consider getting your sister one and see her beam with joy.
Varying from time and labour that the artisans have to put in, the artworks seem to be priceless. In textile category, there is a pool of handloom materials that includes Chhattisgarh Kosa silk sarees, Lucknow Chikan sarees, and Kashmiri hand embroidered sarees. It also has an exotic collection of dress materials such as Venkatagiri, Mangalgiri, Pochampally, Kalamkari, and cotton clothing material from Andhra Pradesh which are ideal for Teej celebrations.
Jute silks in vibrant colours and earthy shades, polished and raw tussars, and Kantha-worked saris from West Bengal compete with Uppada sarees glowing elegantly with weaves of gold embellishing each piece. From Bihar comes eye-catching Bhagalpur silks, both running material and sarees. Banaras silks, jamdani, jamawar from Uttar Pradesh offer tough competition to Rajasthani bagru print, sangangeri print, bandhini cotton and silk Kotas in mesmerising shades.
Tussar, Matka, Khadi silk from Bihar, Patola, Bandhini kutchh embroidery from Gujarat Paithani from Maharashtra, Chanderi and Maheshwari silk sarees from Madhya Pradesh can also be found in the expo which is being organised from 12th to 20th August 2023
