Studio Ikigai presents an online Haiku Workshop with Kala Ramesh & Shloka Shankar
Age: 14 and above
What you'll learn:
Day 1: An Interactive Session
1. Participants will be exposed to knowing what constitutes a "HAIKU."
2. Reading the Japanese Masters of Haiku.
3. Learning to enjoy this minimalist form of poetry.
4. Homework!
Day 2: An Interactive Session
1. Delve deeper into the techniques that make/break a haiku.
2. Workshopping a few of the haiku written by the participants.
3. A pop-quiz to sum up the whole workshop!
About the facilitators:
Poet, editor, anthologist, and festival director, Kala Ramesh is the editor-in-chief of the award-winning ‘Naad Anunaad: an Anthology of Contemporary World Haiku,’ co-author of the e-book ‘one-line twos’ along with Marlene Mountain, winner of the Snapshot Press e-chapbook ‘Unseen Arc,’ and the award-winning book for children, ‘Haiku and the Companion Activity Book.’ Her book of haiku and haibun, ‘Beyond the Horizon Beyond,’ was awarded a Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize Certificate for Excellent Contribution to Literature in 2019.
Shloka Shankar is a freelance writer, poet, editor, publisher, and visual artist from Bangalore, India. She enjoys experimenting with Japanese short-forms and myriad found poetry techniques alike. A Best of the Net nominee and award-winning haiku poet, her poems and artwork have appeared in over 200 online and print venues of repute. Shloka is the founding editor of the literary & arts journal Sonic Boom, its imprint Yavanika Press, as well as Senior Editor for Human/Kind Journal.
Fee - INR 1,000 per head (includes a certificate of participation)

Timings - 11:00 am - 1:30 pm
*This is a LIVE workshop conducted over Zoom. The link will be sent 30 mins before the workshop and you can log in via phone/laptop.
*You will need a pen and notebook for this workshop. We will also send you a few instructions a day prior to help you prepare for the workshop.
