Help protect over 200 saplings with iNaturewatch this weekend at Taloja Hill, Navi Mumbai by installing tree guards. Young saplings planted during the monsoon face extreme heat, strong winds and browsing animals. Tree guards installed around the saplings provide crucial shelter, improve growth rates and also prevent excess evaporation.

iNaturewatch aims to reforest the degraded Taloja Watershed, a hill range adjoining the Taloja Lake and Owe dam through weekly volunteering activities. This weeks activity includes installing individual tree guards for over 200 saplings planted during the monsoon.

How can Volunteers Help?

Volunteers will install individual special sleeve tree guards for over 200 saplings planted during the monsoon. These tree guards have a triangular plastic sleeve that needs to be installed over individual saplings with precision for best shelter. This can be physically intensive, so volunteers who are up for some challenging tasks could sign up for this event.

Safety Measures:

In line with the safety measures issued by the government, volunteers are required to:

• Maintain a minimum distance of 6 feet at all times 
• Wear face covers/masks at all times

Things to Keep in Mind:

• Wear closed and comfortable footwear such as sports shoes
• Wear comfortable clothing
• Smoking/drinking alcohol/littering is prohibited
• Carry a reusable water bottle and stay hydrated
