German Saxophonist, Composer & Arranger, Rainer Pusch, returns to bFLAT Indiranagar, accompanied by Bangalore's jazz-elite; musicians Jeoraj George (drums), Joshua Costa (piano) and Raghuraman Ramasubramaniam (bass).
It is a treat to hear a veteran of the genre such as Rainer Pusch. Try not to miss this one!
The Rainer Pusch Quartet will play straight ahead jazz standards - modern and hard bop jazz. Rainer is a highly accomplished tenor and soprano saxophonist with a crisp and strong hard-bop style.
The audience can expect to hear the compositions of Cedar Walton, Oscar Petiford, John Scofield, Sam Rivers, Bronislaw Kaper, Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane and Miles Davis, among others.

Rainer Pusch studied with George Coleman in New York and Jerry Bergonzi in Boston (USA). He holds a diploma in „Performance“from the Berklee College of Music, Boston. Over the years he developed an interest in Indian music and studied Carnatic (south Indian, classical) music with G.S.Mani and S. Rajaram at the Kalakshetra College of Fine Arts in Chennai (Tamil Nadu).
Rainer Pusch was a student of the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg (Germany). He has travelled and performed with his own bands at jazz festivals across Europe, the Baltics, Russia, China, Burkina Faso, Indonesia and India. He started his career in Germany (with Peter Kosch, Thomas Stabenow, Südpool Orchestra, Frederic Rabold Crew, Rainer Pusch Big Band etc.) and taught at the Mannheim State Conservatory (Germany) but later moved to South of France (cooperations with Mario Stantchev, Michel Bismut, Patrice Heral etc,) where he taught at the Institut musical de Formation Professional at Salon du Provence and the Cite de la Musique de Marseille (France).
In recent years Rainer Pusch has worked as a freelancing musician and teacher for saxophone and improvisation in India, Nepal & China. He has been visiting faculty at the L. Subramanian School (SA PA, Bangalore, India), Bridge Music Academy (New Delhi, India) and the Contemporary Music Academy of Beijing (China) Besides his own projects & bands he worked with Art Farmer, Peter Herbolzheimer, John Betsch, Horace Parlan and many others and collaboration concerts with Selva Ganesh, Shivamani, Mysor Manjunat, Dr. Balamuralikrishnan, Rajat Prasanna, Shivamani in the field of Indian Fusion music and with Louiz Banks, Ranjit Barrot Keith& Karl Peters, Sanjay Divecha, Guitar Prasanna,besides and many others in a jazz context.
He formed and toured with his KARUNA Kshetra Orchestra feat. Manickam Yogeswaran across India (organized by the German Goethe Institut).and worked in the Indian movie industry with A.R. Rahman, Sundeep Chowta, L.Vidhyanadan etc.
Raghuraman Ramasubramanian
Raghuraman, a guitarist and bassist based in Bangalore, is part of the music circuit for over 10 years. Having played with names such as Louiz Banks, Sid Jacobs, Fazal Qureshi and Taufeeq Qureshi, he is well versed in both instruments and a range of genres. Raghu infuses his approach to improvisation into his musical settings, where spontaneity and reaction are given utmost preference.
Jeoraj George
Jeoraj George was trained at Drumtech, a college for drummers in U.K. He graduated bagging the top student award from his batch.
After returning to India he has shared the stage with some of the most eminent Indian and international musicians like Dr.L.Subramaniam, Shashank, Amit Heri, the late Madhav Chari, Louis Banks, John Antony, Mishko M’ba, Dondieu Divin, Shankar Mahadevan, Christian Galvez, Hariharan, Sudha Raghunathan, Fiaz Khan, Leslie Lewis, George Brooks, Maarten Visser, Keith Peters, Karl Peters and Holger Jetter.
He also performs for various commercial film music projects by A.R.Rahman, Harris Jeyaraj, Karthik Raja, and Yuvan Shankar Raja in India and abroad.
Jeoraj has performed at some of the major music Festivals of India like Jazz Utsav, Conga Square Jazz Fest, Heritage Jazz, Bangalore Habba, Ishaniya Music festival, India Music Fest, the Hindu Music Fest and Delhi International Jazz Fest.
Joshua Costa
Joshua Costa moved to Bangalore from Goa almost 7 years ago. Joshua has been playing keyboards and piano from the age of 8. His early style was much influenced by Pop and Rock but he eventually forayed into Jazz and Blues. Improvisation and experimentation are his forte.
Joshua has played extensively with various bands and artists in both, Goa and Bangalore such as Colin D’Cruz and Jazz Junction, Gerard Machado and the Gerard Machado Network, Megha (Indo Fusion Band), Butterfingers and the Quad. His musical tastes range across Jazz, Latin, Funk and Blues to Rock n Roll and retro and his influences include Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, more recent New Age jazz artists such as Robert Glasper, Manual Valera and also contemporary pop such as ABBA, Carpenters, Beatles and Sting.
Joshua released his first album (Always there) produced under the ‘Jazz Goa’ label.
