About the Event
Since we cannot travel into the future let's take a step back to the past. In the heart of today's Khajuri Bazaar, Indore, stands Rajwada, the residence of the founder of the city. Dating back to 1747, it has been the venue for various religious state functions. Although ravaged thrice by fire, the riots of 1984 brought upon it the most destructive effect.
The construction of the palace is in the Maratha, Mughal and French styles of architecture. It is believed that the palace was built by Muslim artisans from Mandu, who worked for the Marathas. The present Maharani of Indore initiated the restoration of the palace in 2006. It will now incorporate the same materials, styles, and methods with which it was originally constructed.
In this virtual walk, we will be exploring the First Floor visiting gallery and taking a look at the grand sculptures and artifacts stored there, with the help of images.
This is an online-guided tour presented by India Heritage Walks.
