About Lifafa

Contemporary electronic music production has served to score the memories of a generation here in India, but with one element strangely absent - voice and vernacular. As Lifafa, Suryakant Sawhney has spent five years exploring uncharted terrain in this part of the world: electronic music that not only speaks sonically, but also of words and meaning. The audience for this music is unknown. Via an ongoing exploration of Hindi and Urdu, a constant refinement of his own production techniques, and his instinctive take on melody and cadence, this music - spiritual and sensual, familiar and alien - has caught the attention of audiences not just in urban, Anglicised India, but in less obvious corners of this country, and beyond. Undefined and yet familiar, it presents a compelling insight into what the future of music from this region could be.

About Disco Puppet :

Disco Puppet aka Shoumik Biswas is an electronic music producer/composer. He is also part of Bangalore based label/collective, Consolidate. Disco Puppet has been releasing music since 2014. In 2016, he released Spring EP, via Consolidate Records. At the start of 2017, Disco Puppet recieved the TOTO Funds the Arts Award for music. Later that year, he self released his first full length album, I’m Going Home. In March 2017, he did a six city tour in China. A few months later, he released his second full length album, Princess This, via Consolidate Records. Disco Puppet also featured on a track with Zed Bias, released on Exit Records in 2017. Aranyer Din Ratri, his third full length album was released on 30th September 2019, via Consolidate Records. His sound is characterised by its irreverence towards the stylistic and procedural dictates of genres and their purists. This stems partly from ideology, but mostly from a tendency to get easily bored. But cerebral as his work is, he matches it with heart. His experiments, though nearly scientific in their rigour, are always essentially human.

About Kumail :

Kumail is a producer, performing artist and DJ from Mumbai, India. Over the last four years, he has ascended to the very top of India’s burgeoning culture of electronic music on two parallel paths - as a roughneck DJ notorious for breaking ankles, and as a gifted musician and bandleader drawing expansive canvases of rhythm, texture and emotion. In 2018, those paths led him to a DJ set at Dimensions Festival 2018 in Croatia and a string of several live festival dates across India in the winter. In the past, he has shared the stage with the likes of Shigeto, Four Tet, DJ Koze, Teebs, Ratatat, Mount Kimbie and Kutmah, and been featured on boxout.fm, Boiler Room, Sofar Sounds, DJMag and Resident Advisor. The onset of this winter heralded the release of a brand-new album, Yasmin, via Brooklyn boutique label Bastard Jazz Recordings.
