What’s it about
A guy, a girl, a bot.
No, it’s not about love in the time of internet and Twitter trolls.
When one girl’s best friend dies an untimely death, she collates all the personal communication he had with anyone and creates a digital monument to his life, in the form of a chat bot that mimics him rather eerily . A bot that gives some people closure, that brings people to tears, that lets people know the person he was before he died, that disturbs people by its apparent lack of respect for death.
What I thought of this
That this is inevitable. Technology is slowly consuming our lives, anyway. From seemingly helpful contraptions like Alexa, to the dubiously believable IoT connected garbage can, veering into the ridiculous with smart hairbrushes, us humans are soon going to be the “things” in Internet of Things. Someday, we’re probably all going to be compressed into little pulses of information that people can talk to long after we’re gone, whether it’s to ask us our view on life or for a fun cat video suggestion.
