Altered Tastes (Published on The New Republic)
What’s it about?
Food. Food. OMG food. And how our mind is a weirdo-and-a-half when it comes to understanding food, flavours, tastes. And about how one man is using all of that information to create stunning and bizarre food experiences - the bae of the food world, Heston Blumenthal.
Why I liked it
I mean, food. You eat it, you like it, you binge unhealthily from time to time and have all sorts of morning-after regret. But you think you know what you like eating and why you like it, right? Wrong. Our mind is rather complicated when it comes to perceiving these things, and I found that crazy interesting.
Recommended for people who:
- Love food.
- Have wondered what on earth gastronomy even is (Now you’ll see what neurogastronomy is)
- Love psychology
- Want to hack their brain into eating a certain way
- Want to set unrealistic and amazing #FoodGoals for themselves
