Theatre Nisha & Salons for Life (SFL) are thrilled to present a Sunday Salon, a 3-hour immersive and experiential event that combines live performance, audience Q&A and a physical theatre workshop. The presenting artists, Preethi Bharadwaj & V.Balakrishnan of Theatre Nisha, will be joined by Nirupa Umapathy of SFL. This is the trio’s first collaboration in Chennai.

Preethi’s 'Me and My Trash' will explore the artist’s complex relationship between art, trash and humanity. 'Everything that humans generate from plastic, technology, tradition, stories, ideas, ideologies and even art as trash.' In this hybrid performance piece, Preethi weaves movement, story-telling, spoken word, poetry and object theatre to explore 'to examine the responsibility and accountability that comes with the act of creation.' The performance will be followed by audience Q&A, moderated by Nirupa, where Preethi will touch upon her creative journey, process, her play and physical theater at large.

V. Balakrishnan's 'Move the Body, the Mind will Follow' is a 90-minute workshop that explores physical awareness, physical sensitivity, and imagination. Unleash the emotional, by a marriage of the imagination to the physical body.

Inspired by the French Enlightenment salons of the 18th century, the salon is co-created by all present, in a flat and open space around a shared experience. The SFL salons invite audiences to 'Come as You Are.' Founded on values of co-creation, non-hierarchical spaces and play, the community will endeavour to create a space that explores stories and lived experiences with openness, with respect and safety.
