We are pleased to inform you that like previous years YHAI is organizing National Himalayan Trekking Expedition Sandakphu – Gurdum in Darjeeling Region at Eastern Himalaya from 1st May to 20th May, 2019.Sandakphu, the world famous trekking paradise, from where you can enjoy the clear views of Himalayan Giants like Mount Everest (29036 ft.), Khangchendzonga (28170 ft), Lhotse (27940 ft), Nuptse (25791 ft), Makalu (27825 ft.), Kumbhakarna (25296 ft.) , Pandim (21953 ft.), Chomolhari (24036 ft) and many more upto Arunachal Pradesh.

MANDATORY: Trekking Medical Certificate will be compulsory at the time of reporting only (with 30 days of validity ) duly signed by registered Medical Practitioner (MBBS / MD only) along with his registration no. and stamp.

How To Reach:

The Base Camp is at International Youth Hostels Darjeeling, Chota Kakjhora, Near New Taxi Stand, 500mtr away only. Before Darjeeling Railway Station, Darjeeling is easily accessible from any part of India by Air, Rail or Road, The Railway Station is New Jalpaiguri (73 kms / 3 hours) and the Airport at Bagdogra ( 70 kms / 2.5 hours) being the links to the outside world. From there avail Bus/Jeep/Taxi services to reach International Youth Hostel, Darjeeling.

Accommodation, Veg food, Group Insurance, Forest entry fees, Guide and Trekking.

Itinerary:

# Day 1: Reporting at Base Camp, (6700 ft.) after 3 p.m.

# Day 2: Training/Acclimatization/ Orientation

# Day 3: Transfer to Dhotrey (8500 ft.) by Jeep. Trek to Tumling (10000 ft.) 7 KM.

# Day 4: Trek to Kalipokhri (10196 ft.) 13 KM.

# Day 5:  Trek to Sandakphu (11941 ft ) 6 KM.

# Day 6: Trek to Gurdum (9514 ft) 14 KM (fully decending)

# Day 7: Trek to Rimbik (7498 ft .) via Sirikhola (3572 ft), 11 KM. Certificate Distribution and Recreation Activity 

# Day 8: Transfer by Jeep to Darjeeling Base Camp (52KM.) Check out.

Note- Participants are requested to report at base camp by 9 p.m.

Total round Trekking Route- 51 km.(approx.)

Who can Participate: 

The minimum age for a member to join the program is 18 years to 60 Years, YHAI membership is mandatory to participate. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Under age and above age will not be considered. Members desirous of joining this programme may apply online duly supported by a "Trekking Medical Certificate".

Special Cases for Consideration:

On the special case if the person is medically fit and a regular trekker than he can be allowed in offline mode (decision will be final only on management discretion and seat availability). In this case, he/she has to produce Indemnity bond on rs 100/- bond paper from his respective state and has to submit the same along with his Registration form.
