Body modifications have existed ever since mankind was created. Actors and costumiers have used these concepts time after time to fit into a character. Envisaging the body in consideration to the time, space and context of the character is crucial for any narrative; one of the most important considerations when designing costumes is shape.
Through the workshop we will discuss and demonstrate various ways of visually adding or subtracting volume from the body. The workshop fee also includes lunch and refreshments.
Contents:
- Introduction to the use of corsets and shoulder pads
- How does the change in shape and form add meaning to clothing?
- Demonstration of a variety of tools and techniques
- Create your own shape-shifter
