'Vivaah' is about bringing sanctity to the basic needs of- the flesh and blood beings.
'Vivaah' is performed to pursue Dharma (responsibility/duties), Arth (meaning), and Kama. It is an alliance of two individuals as spouses and is recognized by liveable continuity.
To understand the institution of marriage, we need to identify our mental, emotional, physical, economical, social, and spiritual needs so that they are well complemented by another soul...sensibly with the purity of thoughts and intention.
With aesthetics, ethics, and morals, 'Vivaah' harmonizes two individuals (mostly male and female) for ultimate eternity, so that a couple stays together for life until the husband or wife takes the path of renunciation. It is a form of lifelong commitment.
When the wedding sacraments are performed traditionally, in a coruscating, intricately planned, and culture-rich celebration, it is called 'Vivah Sanskar'.
Marriage or 'Vivaah' might have some negative connotations associated with it in this contemporary world but 'Vivaah' is beyond what we generally perceive or think about it.
On 24th July, StoryMirror will be hosting a fireside conversation on the concept of 'Vivaah' under the guidance of Ashok Mishra - a research scholar and best-selling author. His Book 'Hinduism - Ritual, Reason and Beyond' has been adjudged as the Top 7 best Hinduism books to read in 2021 by "BookAuthority", where thought leaders and experts from CNN, Forbes, Inc and many journals select this among good books.
Meet our special guest for the event:
Dr. Amruta Natu
He work as an assistant curator at Bhandarkar OR Institute and look after the manuscripts i.e. Sanskrit literature in its very material and tangible form.
In his words - "Let me remind you all that a vast amount of literature has been actually lost in time so whenever we are studying ancient literature we must remember this fact that we now have very scanty material at hand. Many enthusiastic people like armatures in Pune who want to know about our ancient literature but who do not know Sanskrit or Sanskrit language approach the Bhandarkar Institute which serves as literary bureau so to say, for their doubts about these subjects. So now I have a very easy answer for them-I will direct them to this book, so long felt necessity or need has been fulfilled in this field. Mishraji has handled most skilfully the most controversial topic namely the Aryan problem. He has explicitly stated that it is based on language similarity and of course the recent findings made by the Deccan College in Rakhigarhi under the leadership of Prof. Vasant Shindey. It proves that today's residents of Rakhigarhi are DNA wise same people who inhabited there during the Harappan period.
Ashok Mishra has consulted most of the Sanskrit works and actually presented a very well studied book which gives the history of the evolution of Hindu religion, and with extensive notes and complete index and very useful charts at the end - this has made the book a very useful reference book. Especially for beginners or common readers in general, and actually I'm going to recommend this book to my students of Sanskrit and Indology in Pune."
Join us at this very rare opportunity and empower yourself to attain the true meaning and knowledge of the sacredness of 'Vivaah'.
To one and all- Please join us on,
