Have you ever thought about making your own customised soap with natural ingredients? We are giving you an opportunity to learn soap making using different herbs, essential oils and fragrance. To teach us the art of natural soap making, we will be joined by Lakshmi Sreenath
( @lakshmi.sreenath, @herbalsutras ) on:
Date: 2nd October, 2020
Time: 3 PM
Venue: Online Workshop over Zoom App (DM us @rajasthan.studio on Instagram for details)
Price: Free for Artists and Circle Members (DM us to register for The Circle Membership)
Materials required:
1.Handcrafted Soap
1)Any Soap base ( preferably goats milk )- 500gm
2)Moong Dal powder, - coarsely powdered at home ( 1 -2 tbsp),
3)Green colour (mica it pigment )- optional
4)Fragrance oil - any soap fragrance ( optional)
5) Essential oil- choose one which you are not allergic to ( optional)
6) Almond oil or IP alcohol - qty enough to mix the moong dal in.
2. Handmade Soap
7) Oils - a)Coconut Oil - 570 gm
b) sesame oil - 330gm
c) castor oil - 100gm
8)Distilled water/ filtered water( if both are not available, use boiled and then cooled water) - 380gm
9) Lye/ caustic soda / 99% pure sodium hydroxide- 143.01 gm
10) Tulsi powder (Tulsi paste can be infused into castor oil, two to three days before our session)
11) Basil EO ( optional)
Utensils/ Soapmoulds needed-
1) For Handcrafted soap- Induction cooker / microwave/ double boiler method on gas top.
2) skewers
3) A steel utensil
4) one steel spoon large
5) one steep spoon small
6) small bowl to mix the additives and colour
7) bowl to measure fragrance
8) A weighing machine ( a must have for soap making)
You can pre- measure all of your ingredients.
For Handmade soap:-
1) Weighing machine
2) An electric handblender( preferably with steel shaft)
3) A steel whisk
4) Induction cooker/ double boiler method
5) steel utensils - 3 ,(one of them should accommodate , approximately one and half litre of batter ( tools ,if used for soap making , cannot be later on used for cooking etc, as there will be remnants of lye in crevices of the utensils, cutlery and beater , which can be dangerous , if consumed).
6) spoons- 3-4
7) mould- paper glasses/milk cartons,
Sillicon moulds etc( similar types of moulds available at home , but no Aluminium)
