Have you been scrolling on Instagram watching satisfying Jesmonite pours and admiring the mesmerizing terrazzo home decor? Want to get your hands dirty and make your own? Then this workshop is the place for you!

What is Jesmonite?

Jesmonite, often lauded as eco-resin, is a water-based, non-toxic composite material often used in crafting and fine art. Highly adaptable and reusable, its ability to be broken down and recrafted is what makes jesmonite so sustainable, and so great.

Social is hosting a 3 hour long workshop on the occasion of World Environment Day. In this session led by Shreya from @tinkerings.store, you’ll learn how to make Jesmonite coasters from start to finish by covering the following techniques:

Coaster 1: Terrazzo Technique

1. Learning about the 2-part material that is Jesmonite.

2. Mixing the material and pigments in the correct ratio.

3. Making chips for the terrazzo technique

4. Pouring techniques.

5. Sanding and sealing the coasters after demold.

Coaster 2: Gold foil with Jesmonite

1. Applying gold foil to the molds.

2. Splash technique with jesmonite.

3. Mixing and pouring the material.

4. Demold, sealing and finishing.

The following materials will be provided for you to use during the workshop:

1. Jesmonite

2. Pigments

3. Weighing scale

4. Silicone Molds

5. Containers and spoons for mixing

6. Sandpaper- all grits

7. Beeswax to seal your coasters.

At the end of the workshop you get to take home a pair of coasters made by you in the colors of

your choice and all the knowledge needed to start your own Jesmonite journey!
