About the Event
"Software testing in the age of Machine Learning" by Dr. Kinga Dobolyi, Associate Professor of Practice at George Washington University’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences
About the Masterclass
As Machine Learning products become more ubiquitous, so do the failures of these systems. Machine Learning models are often characterized as opaque and difficult to understand, both in how they make decisions and in their potential failure modes. Testing Machine Learning models is a nascent need, especially in industrial settings, given how there are currently limited ways by which users gain confidence a priori about how these models might perform when deployed in life, and often sensitive, systems. In this talk, we'll discuss some of the emerging research avenues and companies that are investigating novel ways to address testing Machine Learning systems.
About the Speaker
Dr. Kinga Dobolyi is as an Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Computer Science at George Washington University’s School of Engineering. Dr. Dobolyi previously taught computer science at George Mason University for eight years.
She has also worked in industry as a data scientist at a start-up, and as an applied deep learning researcher at the non-profit, IQT Labs, specializing in biomedical applications of computer vision and NLP. Her current research interests include automated testing for deep learning models and characterizing uncertainty in research on emerging infectious diseases.
Dr. Dobolyi earned her Ph.D. in 2010 from the University of Virginia.
