About the Performers
Louiz Banks is the man behind the lilting, haunting, musical score of the much talked about ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’ trilogy that made it big on the small screen. His inspiring melody for our most revered athletes, ‘Spread the Light of Freedom’ is remembered by all those who have heard the tune, even today. He is India's premier Jazz pianist since the last two decades as well as a prolific composer of music sound tracks for theatre, stage and feature films. He continues to be the most sought after music composer of jingles, corporate anthems, audio visuals and documentaries. In fact, he is considered to be the most prolific composer ever, of advertising jingles. Despite his tremendous commercial success, his first love remains Jazz related music. Known as the ‘Godfather of Jazz in India’, he has performed with hoards of well known Indian and International Musicians – Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pt. Ravi Shankar, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pt. Shivkumar Sharma, Pt. Birju Maharaj, Ustad Sultan Khan, Dave Holland, Chris Potter, Vinnie Colaiuta, Eric Harland, Ron Carter, Mike Stern and the legendary Dizzy Gilespie.

Shweta Shetty’s very first album in 1990 and Hindi Lambada in 1991 released at a time when there were no music channels, no MTV, Channel V, etc. Until 1992 when she was discovered at the Independence Rock concert singing Scorpion´s ‘Still Loving You’, which impressed a few A&R managers who were on the look out for some fresh talents for their new record label. She signed the contract the next week and that was the beginning of a wonderful, long and fruitful musical journey. The pop icon of the 90`s for more than a decade went on to sell above 13 million film/private album/compilation copies world-wide. She´s now made Hamburg, Germany her second home. Shweta had the right launch pad with Biddu, who´s music she loved, especially Tina Charles´s ‘Love to Love’ and Karl Douglas´s ‘Kung Fu Fighting’. Johnny Joker went on to become the highest selling pop album in 1993 and was in every count down for more than 25 weeks and made her the darling of the nation. Shweta´s song ‘Rukhmani’ with A.R. Rahman from the film Roja followed shortly in 1994 creating musical history and is rated as the 10 best soundtracks ever made by the Times Magazine. Her classics like ‘Rukhmani Rukhmani’, ‘Johnny Joker’, ‘Deewane Tho Deewane Hain’ and ‘Mangtha Hain Kya’ are still remembered. In Europe, Shweta had the great honour of working together with one of the finest voices in the world, Sarah Brightman. She also had the opportunity to work with some very talented names in the international music scene like Frank Peterson, Gregorian and Jam and Spoon.

An actor par excellence, Dalip Tahil has acted in over 250 feature films. He is not new in the music space and has been a part of many Musicals such as Evita and Sound of Music. Dalip has performed in International Theatre Productions such as Bombay Dreams as well as being a part of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s production.
About Royal Opera House, Mumbai
Royal Opera House, Mumbai is widely touted as Mumbai’s Cultural Crown Jewel and India’s only surviving Opera House. The original idea for the space was conceived of in 1908, inaugurated in 1911 by King George V, and eventually completed in 1916. The design incorporated a blend of European and Indian detailing. The space became a cinema in later years before falling into disrepair and shutting by the 1990s. Fittingly, the space has been owned by the Royal Family of Gondal since 1952 and was eventually restored by conservation architect, Abha Narain Lambah under the leadership of His Highness, Maharaja Shri Jyotendrasinhji of Gondal. The Royal Opera House Mumbai, now one of the last remaining Baroque structures in the city, reopened after 23 years in October 2016. The building was included on the 2012 World Monuments Watch to raise awareness about its history and significance, and support preservation efforts. The building has since been recognized with an Award of Merit in the 2017 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation. The restored facilities feature a 575-seater 3-level auditorium with an orchestra pit and state of the art technological upgradations, including acoustics, stagecraft, lighting and air-conditioning, alongside retaining the old world charm of the proscenium stage, the royal boxes and the magnificent regal chandeliers. Some more enhancements to the venue include a motorized screen, co-axial ceiling speaker system, Four-zone volume control and all round wifi access. Today, it stands as a key performance and creative hub in the city’s cultural landscape, while being a premier heritage landmark.
