Every Thursday at 9 PM, we will be screening some very interesting TED talks under the TED Circles initiative. This is followed by an intellectual discussion on 3 points from the video.
About the TED Talk:
Social media has become our new home. Can we build it better? Taking design cues from urban planners and social scientists, technologist Eli Pariser shows how the problems we're encountering on digital platforms aren't all that new -- and shares how, by following the model of thriving towns and cities, we can create trustworthy online communities.
About Speaker:
As a co-founder of Upworthy, and the author of "The Filter Bubble," Eli Pariser leverages technology to help build better and more democratic societies. Now he is the co-director of the Civic Signals project at the National Conference on Citizenship, where he is working to create democracy-friendly spaces in the digital landscape.
