Chef Chinu Vaze is a Mumbai chi mulgi and comes from a family of fabulous cooks.
After graduating in Political Science from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, she decided her dream was to become a chef and went to study at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu, Paris. With her Diplome de Cuisine in hand, she returned to India and moved straight to her soul-town Goa while also working for kid’s television channel Pogo. While she worked at several small, highly creative stand-alone restaurants working for inspired chefs from all over the world, she met her Swiss husband Chef Christophe Perrin on the beach and their culinary story has been entwined ever since.
In 2009, they decided to open their first restaurant in Goa called Gaia, named after the earth and all the bounty she offers. Considered one of the best new restaurants in the sunshine state, the cuisine was a mix of all their favourite food- from Chris’s father’s signature Morel Sauce to Chef Chinu’s Aaji’s prawn Khichadi.
While setting up the restaurant, Chef Chinu hosted her first show Firangi Tadka, the first of many shows hosted for Food Food by Chef Chinu such as Style Chef, Sunny Side Up, Tiffin Box etc which made her into a “celebrity chef” with a fan following that ranged from young girls to aunties. With all the learning and experience from Goa, the chef couple decided to move back to Mumbai in 2011 to expand their business, starting a gourmet, eclectic catering company Gaia Gourmet (www.gaiagourmet.in) and is one of Bollywood’s most sought after caterers!
Chef Chinu is also now unwittingly an “influencer” with a social media following of over one lakh foodies & young moms, creating recipes & content and posting the same on her platforms. One of the perks of being a mum to gorgeous #babychia or Zanskar, her daughter, is that Instagram has become so much more than just a platform for work and PR and has given rise to a real-life community of foodie mums who interact, support & laugh with each other. Chef Chinu loves to cook authentic, luxurious food but is also now leaning more & more towards a healthier lifestyle, with regards to where your food actually comes from and the people who produce it. Chef Chinu takes inspiration from her travels with her family to the
wild, beautiful places of the earth, where people cook with their hearts & hands, using traditional wisdom & knowledge passed down through the generations.
The #ChiaSeed Meal Plan Workshop will teach you how to always have pantry & freezer staples on hand to make delicious, fresh & healthy food for your kid without losing your mind. You will learn to make:
- Ragi Almond Flour Pancakes (Pantry Basic: Almond Meal/Flour)
- Roasted Pumpkin Soup with other Veggies (Pantry Basic: Chicken Stock)
- Cacao Smoothie
About Studio Fifteen
When Chef Pooja Dhingra set up the Le15 Patisserie kitchen in March 2010 the plan was to run baking and cooking classes out of it. And she did exactly that, with weekend classes every month for three years. Then, there came a point at which she felt that they could do a lot more with a kitchen space that was dedicated to culinary workshops. And Studio Fifteen was born as a culinary hub for everything from workshops, to private lessons and corporate training sessions, to pop-up meals and chef collaborations. The classes were aimed at everyone who just wanted to learn how to bake or cook in an environment that wasn’t intimidating. The mission of this space was to encourage people to absorb and share knowledge. After all, it was born of her own constant need to keep learning and growing.
