About the Event
Based on a story by Sujatha Padmanabhan, illustrated by Madhuvanti Anantharajan, published by Kalpavriksh and Snow Leopard Conservancy – India Trust.
About the Play:
The residents of Ang, a small village in the Himalayan mountains in Ladakh, wake up one morning to find an unusual visitor in their midst. The villagers are angry, very angry, and threaten to kill the visitor. A young lad of the village is the only one who feels that the visitor must be spared.

ACTOR:
Ritul Singh: Ritul hails from the city of Lucknow, and is now based in Mumbai where he works with Gillo Repertory Theatre and other companies. He has attended several performing arts workshops and continues training in Kalriyapattyu.
Jigna Khajuria: Jigna Khajuria is a theatre artist who has acted in several plays and also worked as an assistant director in a few productions. She has also worked in films and ad films. Before joining theatre full-time, Jigna was a media professional and wrote extensively for magazines and digital media. She is also an ardent animal-lover, an advocate of environmental concerns, a writer, a hobbyist photographer and a dancer trained in Bharatnatyam.
Priyanka Kotwal: Priyanka Kotwal is a teaching artist who has recently completed a fellowship at QUEST Goshtarang. She has also been associated with Salaam Bombay Foundation where she trained for 3 years. Her theatre experience includes plays directed by Sapan Saran, Rasika Agashe and others. Apart from acting, she also does puppetry and storytelling.
Saurabh Soni: Saurabh Soni is a Mumbai/Bangalore based theatre practitioner, actor, writer and voice over artist. He has been associated with Gillo Repertory Theatre, Aarambh Mumbai, Centre of Film and Drama, Saarthak Production, Indian Ensemble, Kalayan Theatre and Aamhi Theatre. After working as a software engineer for a few years, he changed paths and took up acting. Apart from theatre, he has also acted in and produced television and digital commercials, short films, web series and feature films.
Manoj Kumar Karki: Manoj is an actor and drama/acting teacher. He started his journey with Act One Art Group Delhi and has since worked in the theatre for over two decades. After completing an acting course at Imago Acting School (BJAS) he worked with Barry John in Imago Theatre Group and Jana Natya Manch, Delhi. In Mumbai he has been associated with Gillo Repertory Theatre for over a decade. He is also working with Barry John Acting Studio (BJAS) as an acting faculty.
Preeti Aher: Preeti has been an educator for over two decades. She has taught school students in Nasik and Mumbai, from primary to high school, with specialisation in English and Maths. She has also prepared students for annual day plays and other school events. She is currently teaching high school and junior college students as a private tutor. She has been associated with Gillo Repertory Theatre since 2020.
Barkha Fatnani: Barkha Fatnani is an actor, musician and dancer. She has been an artist with Gillo Repertory Theatre since 2015, having performed in over 10 plays with Gillo with nearly 200 shows. She is an established drama educator who has worked with several schools in Mumbai and across India

Sujatha Padmanabhan, author
Sujatha coordinates the publication of fiction and non-fiction books for children on nature, wildlife and environment in Kalpavriksh, an environment NGO where she is a member. She has also been involved in developing environment education programmes and resources for children and teachers in many places, including Ladakh.
Madhuvanti Anantharajan, illustrator
Madhu is a researcher in teacher-learning and mathematics education and currently works for Stanford University.
Shaili Sathyu, writer-director
Shaili is the Artistic Director of Gillo Repertory Theatre, a Mumbai based organization that specializes in Theatre for Young Audiences. Over the past two decades, she has worked closely with arts organisations and educational institutions across India.
Nihar Shembekar, music composer
Nihar is a 3rd generation musician who started as a singer for films like 'Gadar - Ek Prem Katha', 'Jajantaram Mamantaram', etc. and went on to do live show performances nationally and internationally with Kalyanji - Anandji's 'Little Stars'. Nihar is currently working full time as a Singer - Composer and has composed for Marathi films, advertisements and jingles. He also performs live shows with his band.
Gurleen Judge, light designer
Gurleen works as a writer, director and light designer in the theatre. She has designed lights for several national and international collaborations across theatre, opera and dance such as ‘There is Something in the Water’, 'Faqueer Nimaana', 'Whirlpool', 'Lucrece', 'La fedeltà premiata', 'Chuhal' among others. She also works in the field of drama in education. She was a recipient of the Vinod Doshi - Tendulkar - Dubey Fellowship Award 2020.
Prachi Saathi, Choreographer
Prachi is an accomplished Bharata Natyam dancer based in Mumbai. She has conceived multi-style classical dance productions like, ‘When the divine dance’, ‘Ritumālya’ and ‘Samanvay’. Her production ‘Ashtaleela’ has been appreciated across India and in New York. She was a part of the dance ensemble for Pandit Ravi Shankar’s opera ‘Sukanya’. Prachi is also a well-established voice artist for the past 25 years.
Abir Patwardhan, production designer
Abir is a practicing visual artist, primarily a sculptor, with a keen interest in theatre and film. He studied Art at the M S University in Baroda; enjoys nature thoroughly and a lot of his work is inspired from it. He has a keen interest in TYA and is a founding member of Gillo Repertory Theatre. He has designed several plays since 2010.
