About the Event

Grunge rock fans around the world were devastated when Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and Audioslave fame passed away. To show their appreciation and celebrate the legends that have contributed to the Seattle sound, the Grunge Rock community of Bangalore has come together to pay tribute to Chris Cornell, Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, and Layne Staley of Alice in Chains.

Six bands from Bangalore will play us their favorite Grunge Movement songs. They’ve all been heavily influenced by bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, etc. so you can be sure you’ll be hearing that Seattle sound you love.

A four-piece band that plays hard/progressive and grunge rock. They play covers, covering bands such as Velvet Revolver, RATM, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Audioslave and Foo Fighters. Having played in different bands in the past, they’ve came together to play some good, loud live music. To hear their sound, head to their Facebook page.

Immensely influenced by the grunge genre and Chris Cornell, this three-piece power house has come together to pay tribute to Chris and his contribution over the years, even as they bid farewell to him.

An alternative, post grunge band from your neighborhood, 1Fret Away has been alive and kickin’ since October 2007. They’re here to feed you music, long forgotten. A 5-piece band with an unimaginable line-up, they’re making melodies you’ve never heard! They’re influenced by the greats: Nirvana, Seether, Foo Fighters, 12Stones, Poets of the fall, Puddle of Mudd, Blink 182, Greenday, Evanescence, Audioslave, Dream Theatre, Bullet for My Valentine, Iron Maiden. An alt-rock band from Bangalore, Baking Signal consists of Manish Rai (Vocal), Abhinaba (Bass), and Sujeen (Guitar). They’re influenced by genres like rock ‘n’ roll, grunge, djent, psychedelic, progressive, etc. as long as the music can be simplified for the listener.

Recently formed, Work in Progress is a jam band that enjoys creating medleys for hours and hours. They started with Bollywood and contemporary pop-rock music in a shabby jam room. They’re influenced by Metallica, The Eagles, Green Day, Nirvana, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Kishore Kumar, AR Rahman, Sukhwinder Singh and Atif Aslam.

Formed in 2008 by Dr. Rajesh Purigella, LEDGE 13 is a hard rock band whose songs are based on reality, freedom, love, betrayal and anti-establishment thought. To hear their sound, head to Youtube.
