This eclectic mix of dance styles curated by Gauri Sharma Tripathi will comprise of four performances:
Title 1: Avāsā- The liberation
Time: 6:00PM to 6:30PM
Performer: Pavitra Krishna Bhat
About the Performer:
To carve a niche for oneself in the world of dance that is dominated by the fair gender is without doubt a Herculean task for any male dancer and yet if one has consistently impressed by making a mark, it certainly speaks a lot about the dancer. Pavitra Krishna Bhat is that dancer who is today one of the most sparkling gems amongst the younger generation of dancers.
About the Programme:
The boundlessness, infinity, eternal and infinite expanse, immensity, inexhaustible abundance, perfection, unimpaired condition, etc. that has a broad range of application from total absence of restraint to merely a sense of not being unduly hampered.
Freedom is not a value but is the ground of values because it allows a person to create and appreciate values, to pursue the classical values of beauty, truth and goodness. It enables people to use their creativity so as to bring joy to God and to others, in wider community.
Alongside this concept of freedom there’s also another aspect of freedom which is embrace.
It's not only freeing once mind but also embracing oneself with the ideologies that allows to liberate and cherish.
Poets are one such people to create and appreciate this value and spread the joy amongst all.
Thus today's presentation is based on different poets and their expression of freedom or liberation that speaks volume.There is a fine line of detailing in each one's expression and the clarity of thought that is capable of unfolding many complex materials thus, bringing God and community closer.
Title 2: Letter

Performer: Neeraj Lohani
About the Performer:
Neeraj started dancing at the age of 15. After completing 2 years of training in New Delhi under Mentorship of Bharat Sharma, Neeraj received a scholarship at Sumeet Nagdev Dance Arts (SNDA) in Mumbai in 2014.. At SNDA, Neeraj has had the opportunity to further hone his skills in various dance techniques and styles. Neeraj completed his graduation in SNDA’s Full-time Professional Dance Certification (PDC) .In June 2017, Neeraj received a 6-week full scholarship at the American Dance Festival (ADF), where he had the privilege of training under Jennifer Nugent (Release technique) and Andrea Weber (Advance Cunningham). Neeraj got the opportunity to perform in Serendipity arts festival where he performed "PURUSH" choreographed by Robert Moses. He was one of the semi finalists in one of the prestigious Contemporary Dance Awards in India (PECDA). Neeraj also worked as a company member with Mystic Ballet USA, Connecticut, where he performed production like Nutcracker , Flash and The little mermaid.
About the Programme:
Escaped war but couldn’t escape faith.
They were forced to leave their home in order to breathe.
Wandering around in an estranged land where they are hanging by a thread of hope.
Hoping to see a familiar face.
Hoping to not meet death without the last goodbye.
Hoping for someone to come to their rescue.
In such a melee, the future is unknown.
A letter is their last resolve.
So, they write to the world, to the people they love, to the people with power, to the people like us, to the people like you.
This is a journey of survivors who could withstand destruction, losses, and agonies but couldn't survive the ignorance of society, and their depleting humanity.
Title 3: Freedom through my words: A collection of patriotic songs by Rabindranath Tagore
Time: 7:10PM to 7:15PM
Performer: Swapnokalpa Dasgupta Roychowdhury
About the Performer:
Smt. Swapnokalpa Dasgupta (Roychowdhury) (Head of Programming, Dance division, NCPA Mumbai), is an outstanding Odissi dancer, disciple of legendary Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra. She started her training with the affectionate guidance of Guru Giridhari Nayak and has also received training from Guru Poushali Mukerjee in Kolkata and Guru Ratikant Mohapatra and Sujata Mohapatra in Orissa.
She has performed in several prestigious events in india, UK and France as a soloist and conducted several workshops which have earned her wide appreciation. She has trained in Dnace Movement Therapy and initiated the Odissi Diploma classes at The Bhavan. Assisted by Katrina Rute.
About the Programme:
The bard of Bengal, Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore had an entire section dedicated to patriotic songs in Geetanjali, his book of songs. Swadesh porjay has 46 songs that speak of freedom in different aspects of life. From songs that speak of equality - "Our king gives respect to us all and that respect, in turn, he gets back, we are all kings in the land of our king" to songs like "O amar desher mati, to ar paye thekai matha - O the soil of my country, I bow down to you" in admiration of the motherland. O amar desher mati is the national anthem of Bangladesh. Tagore is perhaps the one poet whose songs are sung as the National Anthem of two countries. Most of the songs that are part of this production were instrumental in kindling the fire of freedom among the masses during the freedom movement. Through spoken words, the history behind the songs, and the melodious tunes of Rabindrasangeet, Swapnokalpa Dasgupta presents Freedom through my words.
Title 4: Elemental 360: Fire
Time: 7:25PM to 7:30PM
Performer: Ankit Pahadiya
About the Performer:
Ankit Pahadiya – a young bright performer with the unique style. He displays the attractive technique based on the western ballet, eastern marital arts, particularly on Mayurbhanj dance from Orissa. This art form based on traditional martial art: warriors reproduce the martial movements in a most graceful way as a means of entertainment and celebration displaying the heroic array of attack and defense movements group dance.
About the Programme:
The performance will be representing Fire. The title of the Artist will be that of Lord Shiva. Fire, to the artist, means cremation- Moksha, Mukti, and Destruction. Shiva- The God, holds his upper right hand damru (hand drum that made the first sounds of creation). His upper left hand holds Agni (the fire that will destroy the universe). The artist will be adorning Traditional Classical Dance Costume. The elements fire, earth, water & air reminds the artist of cremation.
