About the Event
An unlikely friendship develops between an urban wildlife researcher and the illiterate tribesman he recruits as a guide. Circumstances draw him into the tribesman's world, where he makes troubling discoveries.
In Bharat Mirle's words, " The Road to Kuthriyar is a work of docu-fiction in that while what it records are actual conditions and includes actual interviews, some of the events are staged. The cast consists of non-actors, speaking directly, playing themselves or versions of themselves. The protagonist, Dhruv, who’s an old associate, is actually a wildlife researcher who was tasked with conducting the very same survey as that in my film and Dorai was the tribesman he recruited as his assistant."
The screening will be followed by a conversation with the crew.

About the Director:
Bharat Mirle is a self-taught, award-winning filmmaker from Bangalore, India. His short documentary, 175 Grams was the winner of the Sundance Short film Challenge, and was screened at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. In 2017, he completed his first short fiction short 'Vaahana', which was the winner of the 2018 Jakarta International Humanitarian and Cultural Award and was part of the official selection at the New Jersey Indian International Film Festival and the Bangalore International Short Film Festival. His first feature film is The Road To Kuthriyar.
