ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Discover what constitutes an Actor’s Body- Through Kalaripayattu Movement.
A physical approach to character.
Kalaripayattu prepares our mind & body to defend ourselves from sudden attacks. It gives us more endurance & sustainability, & the ability to be punctual, to have confidence in what we do. It helps us stay calm & composed in challenging situations. In this workshop, activate your complete body, gain a sense of physical presence & achieve discipline.
ABOUT ARPIT SINGH
Arpit Singh, a theatre practitioner and Kalaripayattu artist has been researching and performing from last 10 years. His training includes traditional Indian folk forms like Chhau, Gotipua, Baul, Fire Dance and Mime, Clowning, Physical Improvisation, Rhythm and Movement-based work.
The training with John Britton, Anil Alessandro, P. Thankappan Assan Guru, Abani Biswas and many more stalwarts has resulted in the development of a unique movement, space and energy awareness. Currently, he is working on his own research for body training called 'The Art Of Movement’- a physical approach to character' and Kalaripayattu- A body-mind experience.
A visiting faculty at Whistling Woods International and Sumeet Nagdev Dance Arts (Mumbai) Shri Ram Center of Performing Arts (Delhi). His class will feature combat and defense skills along with choreographic routines and breathing techniques.

Thespo is a youth theatre movement that curates a range of activities through the year aimed to showcase, and train young theatre enthusiasts.
Through community theatre watching experiences, a quarterly e-zine, workshops, performances, play readings and an annual festival, we celebrate young talent and hope to build a community of young theatre professionals.
