In the most novel and musical way to celebrate women’s day, one of the country’s oldest multipurpose music agencies ennui.BOMB will be organizing a gig at the iconic Hard Rock Café, Gurgaon on 9th March celebrating three women musicians and the change they are bringing along sweeping along the independent music-scape.
HRC Gurgaon will see city-bred artists Kamakshi Khanna Collective, Tanya Nambiar and Pragnya Wakhlu take to stage.
Kamakshi Khanna Collective: Delhi based singer-songwriter, Kamakshi Khanna was one of the Top 6 contestants on The Stage, India’s first English Singing Talent hunt show and since there has been no looking back for her. Kamakshi Khanna Collective showcases diverse styles of music and their influences include Ellie Goulding, Lianne La Havas, Zero 7, Norah Jones, Sara Bareillis. With a repertoire of soothing, soulful original music she performs with musicians Pranav Pahwa on guitars, Tarana Marwah on the keys, Ishaan Gandhi on the drums and Anugrah Pandey on the bass. Their track ‘Shackles’ featured alongside artists namely Thermal And A Quarter, Raghu Dixit Project and Blackstratblues.
Tanya Nambiar: Delhi-based karaoke jockey and singer Tanya Nambiar is one of the most sought-after artists in the city—a name she has made all by herself. For Tanya, it wasn’t easy but she chose to take the road less travelled. From quitting a 9 to 5 job to dreaming ambitious dreams of putting her band on the international map, she is one fearless go-getter who has carved a niche for herself in the Indian indie music scene. Why do we say this? To get into the spirit of Women’s Day, her cover of ‘Strength of a Woman’ by Shaggy might be the start that you need.
Pragnya Wakhlu: Known for her ability to connect to people's hearts with her music, Delhi- based singer-songwriter Pragnya Wakhlu believes in using her music as a medium for positive change. She released her debut album Journey to the Sun in 2012 and was nominated for the Jack Daniels Rock Awards, Global Indian Music Awards (GIMA) award & Bite my Music Global Awards for the same. Her latest single and music video 'Burning Fire', highlighting the Tibetan struggle for freedom and identity, featured exclusively in Rolling Stone magazine and on Vh1 India. Pragnya is a strong believer in using the power of music and giving back to society has always been something very close to her heart. She is often seen rallying up people in a human chain to save the hills or volunteering her time at an NGO. She has been a part of many fundraising music concerts organized for disaster victims, taught AIDS workers and patients tools to alleviate stress & partnered with the Genesis Foundation and other NGO's for organizing charitable events. Pragnya’s work as a female indie artist purely shows her drive to contributing towards creating awareness about such disrupted cultural and political issues in the society through her music.
