ABOUT THE WALK
This walk takes you on yet another thrilling journey to explore the city within cities. It is accompanied by an interesting session of storytelling around the history and myths surrounding the Mehrauli Archaeological Park, which holds in its recesses centuries of heritage from the Sultanate to the Lodis, and from the Mughals to the British and Sufis.
Our Heritage Walk will cover the following -
a) The 19th century Metcalfe House, which was a 16th century Mughal Tomb, and was used as a guesthouse by the British, for couples on their honeymoons.
b) Jamali Kamali, which has an eerie aura to it. There are stories of the place being haunted, and Sufi saints are said to have found great resonance with the place.
c) Balban's Tomb dating to the Mamluk dynasty.
d) Rajon ki Baoli or the stepwell, which is the oldest and one of the finest stepwells of Delhi.
ABOUT THE WALK PARTNER
Delhi’s Karavan organizes history and literature-based baithaks (storytelling events), karavans (walks), daawats (food walks), workshops and customised heritage walks. Its founder, Asif Khan Dehlvi, has been telling stories of this bygone era for 6 years now. He is a poet and an orator and has been invited to various forums to share his experiences and stories. He also loves to capture the unusual stories he sees around him and frame them through his pictures.
