About

Young people are increasingly getting addicted to their devices, directly impacting their physical and mental health often without realising it. At Unplug, we would like to help people regulate their use of digital media in healthy and productive ways. The theme for this digital detox event is inspired by a single question: what if you could explore the "social" without the "media"? Introducing four entertainment booths for you to rediscover the joys of being a kid again.

• Instagram IRL: Go back to crayons and flying paper planes. Make the best out of waste and return to finger painting, origami, vegetable printing and let your inner child's artist fly!
• Facebook IRL: Which kid didn't enjoy Tinkle comics in the library! Instead of books this time round, here's your chance to "loan" a human and understand each other better beyond your digital avatars. Explore fascinating stories and experiences of people from all walks of life at the human library!
• Reddit IRL: Let the nostalgia of pictionary, monopoly and snakes and ladders wash over you through the chaos of childhood board games (this time without Uno disputes). Design memes to spread awareness about climate change,diversity, mental health, essentially anything you’re passionate about.
• Twitter IRL: Your art speaks louder than your tweets! Try out speed poetry and storytelling through chit prompts as a way of getting to know people better, and rediscover the rush of making new friends as a kid.

Meet the Team

About Niyamat

Niyamat is a mental health awareness project by Mrigakshi Sharma and Ananya Roy, engineering graduates from Manipal Institute of Technology with a mission to de-stigmatize therapy and help you care for your mind. They conduct sessions on different mental health topics and invite a panel of therapists, counselors, psychologists, and mental health advocates to answer questions relating to mental health and wellbeing on a public forum. Their podcast, Faltu ka Stigma has over 1000 monthly listeners and was rated #9 by Apple Podcasts under the Mental Health category in 2021. Niyamat is your friendly neighbourhood community for laughs, actionable tips, and relatable anecdotes about mental health and emotional wellbeing.

About Citta

Citta India is a mental health organisation run by Neelika Chakrabarti and Sagar Menon who are engineering graduates. They are passionate individuals who hope that they can make a lasting impact by making mental health more inclusive and accessible. Their venture was born in Mumbai, India after Neelika and Sagar won the Social Venture Challenge at the Harvard Model United Nations Conference (Madrid, Spain), 2019. Winning the challenge provided the venture with seed funding and mentorship from The Resolution Project, a non-profit headquartered in New York.

About SOCIAL

SOCIAL is a path-breaking urban hangout that’s designed to take people offline while still keeping them connected. From an all-day café serving great food, coffee, and cocktails, SOCIAL transforms from this creatively charged, collaborative space into a high-energy bar when work hours end, striking a balance between work x play. Each outpost is a representation of the neighbourhood it resides in, from the pincode to the people. It’s a second home, workplace, community space and hangout, all wrapped up in one mind-blowing experience.
