Valley of Flowers Trek has many different colorful flowers, taking on various shades of colors as time progressed. Flowers mostly orchids, poppies, primulas, marigold, daisies and anemones carpet the ground. Sub-alpine forests of birch and rhododendron cover parts of the park’s area. Legends believe it to be the place from where Hanuman had collected the Sanjeevani buti for curing Lakshmana. Valley of Flowers Trek remains covered with a thick blanket of snow during the winter season. Valley of Flowers is in full bloom, trekkers can visit during July to September. This is the best time to explore the splendor of the Valley of Flowers trek. It has been recognized internationally for over a century and is referenced in the Hindu religion.
The valley of Flowers was declared a national park in 1982 and now it is a World Heritage Site. The Valley of Flowers is nestled in the upper expanses of Bhyundar Ganga near Joshimath in Garhwal region. The lower reaches of Bhyundar Ganga near Gobindghat are known as Bhyundar Valley.
Valley of Flowers Trek is in the Pushpawati valley 23 km north-northwest of Nanda Devi Park. The Valley has three sub-alpine between 3,200m and 3,500m which is the limit for trees, lower alpine between 3,500m and 3,700m, and higher alpine above 3,700m.
The gentle landscape of the Valley of Flowers National Park complements the rugged mountain wilderness of Nanda Devi National Park to the east. Together, they encompass a unique transition zone between the mountain ranges of the Zanskar and Great Himalaya. The Valley of Flowers is the home of over 500 species of wild flowers of unique design and color.
Itinerary:
Day 1 – Haridwar – Govindghat
Moderate uphill drive (275km)
Begin a long distance drive from Haridwar to Joshimath and pass through the Devaprayag to witness the holy Sangam or Conuence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda Rivers to form the
River Ganges. Finally arrive at Govindghat, a midpoint for other religious pilgrimage locations and our destination for Day 1.
Day 2 – Trek from Govindghat to Ghangaria (Trek 36km)
Mountain Trekking
Final Altitude: 3049 mts
Valley of Flowers Trek begins with sweet ascend to Govindghat (1828 mt / 22Km) and with a trek from Govindghat to Ghangaria (3049 mt / 14 km Trek). Valley of Flowers trek happens in the constant presence of mountains and equally safe and guided as it is scenic. Valley of Flowers Trek is one of the best treks in Indian Himalaya.
Finally, arrive at Ghangaria, check in, relax and pat yourself for a good day.
Day 3 – Trek from Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib
Mountain Trekking
Distance: (7 Km)
Altitude: 4,329 mts
Follow a steep trail to Hemkund Sahib to visit the religious site where Guru Gobind Singh is said to have meditated in a previous life. One may liberated in the peace and tranquillity of the place, under the watchful presence of seven Snow-capped mountains. One ought to unwind here. Wander around or simply relax and after lunch, start a late afternoon trek back to Ghangaria. Prepare for the next day valley of flowers trek.
Day 4 – Trek from Ghangaria to Valley Of Flowers and back
Feel the elation as you stand and marvel the carnival of soothing colours in the form of thousands of brilliant blooms. The pictures view with Himalayas all around, as if the majestic sentinels are standing guard as you meander and play!
Pour your heart in the moments, relish, and make memories and then head back to relax.
Day 5 – Trek from Ghangaria to Govindghat
Trekking
After breakfast, we follow the same Valley of owers trekking route from Ghangaria to
Govindghat.
Day 6 – Drive from Govindghat to Haridwar
From Govindghat, drive to Joshimath. Take a quick detour at Auli if possible. Reach
Haridwar and take the bliss of the entire journey to Valley of Flowers with you.
