Misinformation and lack of information about Covid-19 is a real problem. Several communities including those residing in slums, do not have the resources to fact check all the information they come across. You can help ConnectFor and it's NGO partner, Myna Mahila Foundation by making calls to understand disease prevalence in slums & spread awareness about real facts and local resources available for communities residing in slums and slum redeveloped areas in Mumbai.
How can volunteers help?:
Volunteers will have to collect information on awareness levels of Covid-19 amongst the residents, including any misinformation they might have received. Data collection will also include questions regarding livelihood, current skills etc. Volunteers will undergo a training session before they start making calls.
Please note: Once you sign up, the ConnectFor team will reach out to you to brief you on further details and share guidelines to help you navigate around the volunteering experience.
Things to keep in mind:
Volunteers must have
- a desktop/ laptop/ smart phone/ tablet
- English typing skills
- spoken proficiency in Hindi
- stable mobile network
Time commitment needed by the Volunteer:
3 hours per week for 4 months
Meet the Team
ConnectFor, a research project of The Rosy Blue Foundation, is a digital volunteering platform that matches and connects volunteers to NGOs based on their requirements. ConnectFor was founded in 2015 by Shloka Ambani and Maniti Shah when they understood the value of human capital and it's dire need in the development sector. They have over 18,000 volunteers registered on their platform and work with more than 350 NGOs.
ConnectFor's NGO partner Myna Mahila Foundation empowers women to speak about issues they are most afraid to discuss aloud, like the chatty Myna bird. They employ women from urban slums in Mumbai to manufacture and sell affordable sanitary pads back into their communities, improving menstrual hygiene, providing stable employment, and building a trusted network.
