What is rappelling?
A descent from a height, such as a cliff or wall, in which one slides down an anchored rope and applies friction to control one's speed by means of a specialized device. In order to make the activity safe there are three people involved in this activity.
- The person on the top holding your line has control over your descent.
- You have a control over the speed of descent.
- The person waiting below
Kondana Caves are located in small village, Kondana, 33 km north of Lonavala and 16 km nrth west of Karla Caves. This cave group has 16 Buddhist caves. The caves were excavated in first century B.C. The construction on wooden pattern is notabale. One can reach to the cave by descending from Rajmachi village.
Meeting Point - 07:38 AM at Karjat Railway Station
Catch Karjat Slow Train : Starts at CST 05:20 AM - Get down at Karjat 07:38 AM
Reach Kondane Village by auto. Breakfast will be provided at the village
08:30 AM - Start trek till the waterfall
A short hike up the hill takes you to the rappelling point. The day will be spent rappelling and spending time in the nearby pools and waterfalls
04:30 PM - back to Karjat Station.
