Directed by Sonu Sonkar
The play revolves around the classic story of five blind men and an elephant. As the blind men argue over the elephant, their conflict symbolizes the fight between different political ideologies and religious beliefs. The blind men represent the establishment and its treatment of the National issue. In a highly intellectual manner, this theatrical event draws a true picture of our country, as it showcases how the system never wants to be questioned.
Anshan by Harishankar Parsai
Adapted by Jagdip Singh; Directed by Saurav Padhi
Adapted by Jagdip Singh and directed by Saurav Padhi, Anshan revolves around its meaning, ‘hunger strike’ and its deep roots in Indian society and the Indian psyche. A social and political satire, it mocks the hunger strike and the system. During the struggle for Independence, Mahatma Gandhi and many others engaged in several famous hunger strikes. But what would happen if someone were to set out on a hunger strike to usurp someone else’s wife? Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? Bannu is determined to fast unto death to win his love interest, the married Shavitri. Ironically, Shavitri hates Bannu. However, the latter gets supports from various babas, swamis and social & political leaders as his hunger strike turns into a national issue.
