Spoken Word Poetry is our choice of weapon for fighting against the norms and flaws of the system. It's time to revolutionize the world with art.
Join this revolution with some hard hitting words and snaps on fire. This is a group of young high energy poets performing at the first show of "Words of Revolution" series.
Simran Narwani is a poet, dreamer and believer. As an Indian who grew up in Guyana, a tinge of Caribbean always seems to make it into her poetry. The magic began three years ago, with her first performance ever being one for the little kids she worked with while volunteering for the NGO called U&I. You might have spotted her in all her incandescence as the local act at Mouth of Word with Kafayat Quadri, the featured poet at Art and Chill organised by Kalava and with the Mount Carmel College Team at the National Youth Poetry Slam. Being a slambassador for Airplane Poetry Movement at Mount Carmel College, an enthusiastic part of the Louder Than Words Spoken Word Poetry Campaign and one of the Open Sky Slam Poets at the Bangalore Poetry Festival, the Bangalore poetry scene isn't the same without Simran's exuberance.
Mitali Bhasin
Enslaved by words and freed by verse, Mitali Bhasin is a spoken poet whose writings explore socio-political themes across caste, colour, creed and nationalities. Her voice comes from people and she makes sure to use it for them. Mitali and her team were the pioneers of the slam poetry movement in the city of Lucknow and she has done shows everywhere- from cafes to United Nations Offices - in the hopes of leaving at least one person with the idea of contributing to a larger change.
Lisa Mandal
Lisa is an ordinary 17 year old who says she knows Karate, and when she says she knows Karate she means the art of fight and defense not with her arms and legs, but through her voice and her words - beautifully strong and flamboyantly loud. If she could turn snarky sarcasm into a paying job she would be employed for eternity, but for the time being she can be made happy and content with a bowl of hot nachos and sizzling jalapeno cheese dip.
Angshuman Sarma
Angshuman Sarma, lover of math, winner of slams, spoken word poet and a student of Psychology, believes that stories enable people to connect and change! He has been a finalist at NYPS and has been featured all across Bangalore in many places such as Write To Change, Mouth Of Word, House Concert, and in his college fest Kalopsia. His recent poem 'Where Do I Come From?' has been a success on Facebook with 39k views and counting!
