A theatre performance can be created in absolutely and space and based on absolutely any subject. Traditionally it required a live actor to perform in a live space and a live audience to witness the act. Presently, the paradigms of what a performance could be, have changed. In this workshop we will explore how we can create out of improvisations and concept a performance out of absolutely anything at all. We shall also explore how lack or surplus of resources, skill sets and experience does not and must not stand in the way of creating and performing theatre. What is urgent and immediate to artists must be realized at any cost.

About the facilitator :

Atul is the artistic director of Mumbai based theatre company called The Company Theatre. A graduate from JNU- Delhi, in French Language, he also heads the TCT-Workspace (an international residency for theatre research and performance) based in the countryside of Maharashtra. Atul is an actor, director and producer. He has created & performed theatre productions all over India and abroad. His influences range from folk theatre Raas, Ramlila and Nautanki to his training in Kathakali & Kalerippayattu. He has also trained with visual theatre in France with Compagnie Philip Genty and in Shakespeare with Sacramento Theatre Company. His own rendition of the character of 'Soso' in collaboration with Rajat Kapoor's clown series was one of the highlights of his career.

Presently, Atul is focused on making his artist residency available to maximum number of performing artists and projects from

across performance disciplines and cultures to promote contemporary practices.

His own artistic pursuits are for newer ways of looking at and practicing contemporary theatre in India.He also acts on film.
