This workshop invites participants to immerse themselves in the Actor’s Ensemble Practice, drawing from the dynamic methodologies of Meyerhold Biomechanics and the Suzuki Method. Through guided exercises, participants will explore the physicality of performance, discovering how intentional movement and heightened body awareness can deepen their connection to character and story. The session will emphasize the integration of precision, rhythm, and control, fostering a collective energy within the ensemble while empowering individual actors to enhance their spatial and physical presence. Whether you're looking to refine your craft or unlock new creative dimensions, this workshop offers a transformative journey into the art of embodied performance.

About 5ANGRYMen
Formed in the 90’s, 5ANGRYMen – Theatre Company quickly became renowned for their innovative and extraordinary stage design, and physically arduous performances. All of their performances place the ensemble at the beginning of an impossible theatrical task that must be completed. The phenomenon of the ‘task’ forms the core of the 5ANGRYMen creative practice. All audiences - of any background innately recognize what it is to attempt a task, to wrestle with it, to complete it successfully, or to fail in the attempt. This collective understanding is one that unites us as a species, and upon which the drama of our shows is carried. To attempt the impossible necessarily exposes the paradoxes of human nature: joy; grief; triumph; defeat; heroism; cowardice; the personal quest for power; relying on community and teamwork.
About Rodrigo Calderon
Born in El Salvador, Rodrigo Calderón Tobar has spent the last 17 years directing, teaching, performing, and exploring diverse movement-based forms that emphasize the body as a communicative and political tool. His work spans theatre productions, arts festivals, films, and educational projects across Argentina, Australia, El Salvador, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Panama, and the United States. Early in his career, he collaborated with Salvadoran actor/director César Pineda, exploring the ritualistic nature of theatre — a pivotal experience that shaped his commitment to using the actor’s body as a means of creating ceremonial gatherings and fostering community. Rodrigo's practice integrates a wide range of movement forms, including Shamanic Trance Dance, Butoh, Baris dance, Chekhov's Technique, Gaga-Dance, Meyerhold's Biomechanics, and the Suzuki Method.
Currently based in Melbourne, Australia, he has been part of 5ANGRYMen for a long time now.
