What will you learn?
Histories of Art and their interpretations
This looks at the history of art not as a linear narrative, but as those which existed parallel to each other. The attempt here would be to have a comparative approach to the various histories of art. Further, there would be discussions on critical theories that have been used to analyze these histories and the objects situated within these histories. This section will be approached with an understanding of how our visual cultures have been shaped and what is the contemporary scenario.
Patronage in Art
The commerce/patronage in art plays an important part in shaping tastes. This section will look at the changing roles and faces of patrons of the arts.
Participants will also learn how to appreciate art, how to read a work of art, what are the principles of art appreciation.
