About the Event
World Storytelling Day is a global celebration of the art of oral storytelling. It is celebrated every year on the March equinox, on (or near) March 20. On World Storytelling Day, as many people as possible, tell and listen to stories in as many languages and at as many places as possible, during the same day and night.
The significance in the event lies in the fact that it is a global celebration of storytelling of its kind and has been important in forging links between storytellers, often working far apart from each other. It has also been significant in drawing public and media attention to storytelling as an art form.
The Theme: Voyages
For the year 2020, the theme is “Voyages”
The sense of 'Voyage' is a LONG journey made mostly NOT by LAND.
A voyage takes you across the Boundless, away from civilization, supplies, comfort, and the Known.
Amazing travelers, young and old, journey to the world’s furthest reaches, from the highest peaks to the hottest deserts, and everywhere in between on a mission of exploration and discovery, or trade. What are the testing challenges that they battle? How do they confront fears? What self-belief and passion keeps them going? Even when it seems that everything is stacked against you.
These stories will share the moments of exquisite reward and insight, in times when you are racked by self-doubt and problems.
The Secret Passages storytellers will take us through such stories of exploration, courage, and discovery. And maybe, offer us a chance to learn and grow and reach out for our dreams.
Bon voyage! Bon voyage!
Sail to the storyland
Bon voyage! Bon voyage!
Let us go hand in hand.
Stories of journeys far and near
Of adventures and travels for you my dear.
Bon voyage! Bon voyage!
Sail to the storyland.
Bon Voyage! Bon Voyage!
Let us go hand in hand.
