An outdoor music festival organised in the Ziro valley in the northeast Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, Ziro Festival of Music showcases the independent music scene in India. It was founded in 2012 by Bobby Hano and Menwhopause guitarist Anup Kutty, and had a footfall of mere 50 people or so and in just a few years can managed to attract more people to the ground, Having featured artists like Lee Ranaldo, Steve Shelley, Damo Suzuki, Shye Ben Tzur, MONO, Sha'air n Func, Indus Creed, and more, the festival is a heartfelt and raw celebration of music and culture.

Ziro, a cosy valley tucked amidst the folds of the hills of Arunachal Pradesh is a delight of its own, leave alone the festival! Located at an elevation of 5538 feet, Ziro has a pleasantly crisp weather even in the summers. Its picturesque pine-clad hills and luscious rice field makes it a pretty sight, no matter where you look. It is home to the Apatani tribe, who are known for being a tribe which is permanently settled in one place whereas other tribes are nomadic in nature. They practice wetland cultivations and is included as in India's Tentative List for UNESCO's World Heritage Site. The Apatani tribe was known to have face tattoos, which seems to have been discontinued a few decades back.
