About the Event
Arjun Sagar Gupta
An electronics engineer by education and a Fulbright music scholar, Arjun Sagar Gupta has been a performing pianist since the early 2000s. His influences include pianists such as Erroll Garner and Thomas Waller, but also classical maestros such as Franz Liszt, Vladimir Horowitz, and Chopin. Arjun started his musical journey under the tutelage of Mr John Raphael at the Delhi School of Music, who, apart from being the director of the institute, was undoubtedly one of the best piano teachers in the country. Arjun plays the piano, sings, and performs with leading musicians like Pradyumna Singh Manot, Harshit Misra, and more.
Karan Wadhwa
Karan Wadhwa is a funk/jazz bassist from Delhi, India, who has been playing in the music circuit for the last ten years and has learnt from the likes of Wesley Allen at GMI, Sonic Shori, and Rahul Rai, among others. He plays with The Revisit Project, singer-songwriter Chezin, and singer-songwriter Peekay. Some of the artists he has played with are Angad Katari, Kamakshi Khanna, etc.
Jatziri Gallegos
The singer and educator Jatziri Gallegos was born in Mexico City. She moved to New York City to obtain a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The City College of New York (summa cum laude) and a Master of Music from The Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, as well as different certifications specialised in the study of the voice. As an improviser, she has collaborated with several musicians from around the world, sharing her music within the repertoire of the American and Latin American Songbook. She became the Jazz Vocal Coordinator of the Jazz Study Centre of Veracruzana University in 2017, and has been an adjunct teacher at prestigious universities in Mexico. She is part of the National Association of Singing Teachers in Mexico and has presented conferences and her research work in congresses around Mexico. She received the Linakis Scholarship (2016) and the Mexican Studies Institute grant (2014) in NYC, as well as the FONCA scholarship for performers and creators (2019) in Mexico. Jatziri looks forward to engaging and collaborating with the next generation of musicians around the world, as she believes music might strengthen the soul of the community.
Nobu
Born in Tokyo, Japan, he studied for 10 years under Japanese jazz musician Dairo Miyamoto. While studying saxophone technique and jazz theory, he played in several jazz big bands. He also actively plays in jazz sessions in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Hamamatsu, and other places in Japan. He moved to Gurugram in September 2021 and continues to play there.
Aniket Chaturvedi
He is a multi-instrumentalist and a graduate in audio engineering, whose main instruments are the Hindustani flute and tenor saxophone. Aniket has been training in music for 25 years with various masters of different disciplines in music. His influences range from his colleagues, seniors, and teachers from the Indian music scene to famous musicians such as Tigran Hamasyan, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pt Hari Prasad Chaurasia, John Coltrane, Michael Brecker, and Chad Lefkowitz-Brown, to name a few.
Raghav Khullar
Raghav Khullar is a drummer based in Delhi. He was introduced to music at a young age and has been playing and collaborating with various artists from the city. He has completed graded examinations from Trinity College London and has been under the tutelage of Mr Manoj Mavely. He has extensive stage experience and has played with musicians from several different genres, including jazz, funk, R&B, blues, pop, rock, and Indian classical.
