Bangalore blue's musician extraordinaire and singer-songwriter Sylvester Pradeep's new project, Slyfly & the Blues Co. will perform a tribute to the iconic guitarist and blues legend, Eric Clapton.
The early set will be a short selection of Sylvester's original blues compositions. Sylvester has hand picked some of Bangalore's finest musicians to make up this talented ensemble that he calls Slyfly & the Blues Co.
Eric Clapton is an English rock and blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He is the only three-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Clapton has been referred to as one of the most important and influential guitarists of all time. Clapton has been the recipient of 18 Grammy Awards. In his solo career, Clapton has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling musicians of all time
In the mid-1960's Clapton formed the power trio Cream with drummer Ginger Baker and bassist Jack Bruce, in whichClapton played sustained blues improvisations and "arty, blues-based psychedelic pop".
Clapton's solo career began in the 1970's, where his work bore the influence of the mellow style of J. J. Cale and the reggae of Bob Marley. His version of Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff" helped reggae reach a mass market. Two of his most popular recordings were "Layla", recorded with Derek and the Dominoes; and Robert Johnson's "Crossroads", recorded with Cream. Following the death of his son Conner in 1991, Clapton's grief was expressed in the song "Tears in Heaven", which appeared on his Unplugged album.
Clapton ranked second in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" and fourth in Gibson's "Top 50 Guitarists of All Time". He was also named number five in Time magazine's list of "The 10 Best Electric Guitar Players" in 2009. He also received the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.
Sylvester, or Sly, his popular moniker, is one of Bangalore's most promising musicians. He's experimented with different genres like blues, jazz, funk, fusion and rock. Sly's stage act is refined and his energy is infectious. He is always in full control on stage, a true professional, and can hold an audience equally with his solo act or with his full band on stage.
Sly has been part of bands like Solder, Windoze and currently fronts the Sylvester Trio, who have just launched their new album in May 2019. He's also played sessions with guitarist, Naveen Thomas (Galeej Guru & Raghu Dixit Project) Tipriti (vocalist, Soulmate) the late Karan Joseph, Leslie Lewis, MoonArra, Thermal and a Quarter and many other musicians.
Sylvester has also recently been part of the recent television reality show "The Stage" on Colours Infinity. This singer-songwriter's primary instrument is the guitar but he's quite fluent with other instruments like the piano and harmonica.
