A celebration of arts through the medium of Orissi dance by the students of Sangeet Vidya Niketan, New Delhi; Anand Utsav is a full evening festival showcasing the rich legacy of Padma Vibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra’s style of Orissi. One of the oldest classical dance styles of India, Orissi belongs to the eastern coastal state of Odisha. Known for its sculptural freezes and intricate rhythmic patterns, the dance grips its rasikas with its mellifluous visual and aural charm.

Following the traditional margam, the festival is an attempt to captivate younger audiences towards the lyrical and lilting classical dance form of Orissi. The evening shall also encompass the breaking down of several classic compositions to its rudimentary elements to engage the young audiences and develop a finer understanding and appreciation amongst the youth for Indian classical art forms at large.
