“Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea”- to be in a difficult situation/ to choose between two equally unpleasant courses of action.

2020 has been a rather strange year. On the one hand we’ve been fighting against an unknown invisible enemy known as Covid and on the other hand we’re living in a world where the meaning of being human is changing everyday and we’re up against many social, mental & political demons. Wondering if this is what the End of the world feels like? Which among the Devil or the Deep blue sea will you choose?

Let us take you through the experiences of a Queer womxn’s body caught in the middle of an endemic, to the ruins of paranoia the mind creates when stuck indoors. From a bustling Mumbai government office to the musings of Fakirs and their interpretation of life and death. From feeling longing and touch in “Bodies of Desire” to wondering the meaning of life in “To be or not to be”.

This evening of carefully curated performances, dramatized readings, film screenings is for us to learn to access the longing and the connection to others again. We may reach the literal or metaphoric end of the world, but we as humans cannot stop loving, cannot stop longing, cannot stop questioning our existence here on earth, whether you watch us perform at the space or watch it on your Phone/Laptop screens. That is the intention for us at The Gay Gaze Bombay, through this evening.
