SESSION NOTES / PURPOSE:

Actors are fuel to every Casting Director’s fire - but what are @tessjosephcasting and Casting Directors looking for / hoping to see when you meet them? This session is dedicated to “building the better actor in you”. From the basics to Zoom and an opportunity to showcase the actor in you - join us to discover daily practices, you can imbibe as an actor! We welcome your questions from preparation to working with a scene and what to do after your audition. This workshop is a practical session where you will be encouraged to explore yourself as an actor and get an insight into what we expect as industry pillars. We hope this workshop will empower you with tools you can use daily and for every “Audition Day” that comes your way!

TESS JOESPH:

Tess began casting Mira Nair’s ‘Namesake’ and has worked with the likes of Joe & Anthony Russo, Wes Anderson, Garth Davis, Ramin Bahrani, Sam Hargrave, Ang Lee, Lucy Liu, Sooni Taraporevala, Neil Burger, and Doug Liman. In 2020 she was selected to join The Academy's Casting Director Branch - an honor bestowed on few every year. Her keen eye for young talent has brought us actors like Sunny Pawar (LION) and the BAFTA-nominated Adarsh Gourav (WHITE TIGER). Most recently, Tess and her team were instrumental in casting Kubbra Sait in Foundation and Priyanka Bose in Wheel Of Time. 

Tess along with Priyanka Chopra & Freida Pinto produced “Girl Rising” for India, a film that uses storytelling to educate and empower girls everywhere. Beyond movies, Tess has directed Kommune's first series for Amazon Prime Video called "The Storytellers - In The Living Room” and is the Director of Curation for SPOKEN FEST 2017- 2022 - Asia’s Largest Spoken Word & Storytelling Festival. 

Beyond work, she remains an explorer of the world, a slow marathon runner, a hopeful pianist, and a crusader for animals.
