Welcome to the exploration of Contact Improvisation.

A partner dance form based on the principles of touch, momentum, shared weight, and most importantly – following a shared point of contact.

This dance practice explores the skills of falling, rolling, counterbalance, how to make ourselves light, centering and breathing techniques, and responsiveness to our partners and surroundings.

Awaken your body through a series of solo exercises aiming to experience yourself in motion with gravity as your partner.

After the warm up, we choose our pathways through space with different partners.

With light touch, we experience heighten awareness and focused listening which allows space for fluidity in our body and mind.

We will finish with a jam.

All levels welcome.

Facilitator Bio: Adrianna Michalska & Guru

Adrianna Michalska

Contact Improvisation dancer, vagabond and independent artist with background in somatics, contact improvisation, creative writing, and various improvisation methods studied across the globe. She is interested in embracing artistic practices from different cultures into a creative process, and looking at the trans-disciplinary potential when working with text, image, sound, and movement. With her work she aims to develop a better understanding of an artistic ensamble as interdependent on the exchange of attention, perception, judgement, and decision-making of its members.

Guru

Guru Suraj sees dance as not only every ones birth right,but as one of the greatest tools of awakening ones consciousness and awareness. It can be a mirror to look deeply into our self. All we have to do is stay and watch. I trust in intuition and spontaneity. Since I learnt this secret, dance has been a sheer joy and playfulness.
