Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces a cyan blue image when paper is exposed to ultraviolet light.

Ria Rajan will explain the various processes of printing and how cyanotype works. From mixing of chemicals, coating of surfaces to exposure times, the whole process will be explained and guided. The workshop will also explore printing on surfaces other than paper and how to create unique pieces of art with almost anything under the sun.

Expect to get messy in a fun way and thus dress accordingly. All materials will be provided. You can bring additional things to print on like cotton t-shirts, objects, speciality papers and even stones or cork. 

Ria Rajan is a visual artist and designer. With work that spans across mediums both analog and digital, including drawing, painting, image making, sculptural explorations and interventions in spaces. Her ideas take form through various materials and develop in response to her physical surroundings. She is interested in the intangible, ephemeral and transient experiences of spaces and objects, both natural and constructed. Ria has participated in multiple art projects such as Urban Avant-Garde (BLR), Investment Zone (BLR), Figment (NY), Prakalp Pune (Pune), Cyberia (Pune). Presently, collaboration has become a key aspect of her work and strives to build long-lasting artistic relationships with people and places.
