About the Event
Design Fabric is excited to announce the first ever edition of the Design Fabric Festival, taking place from 29th to 31st March 2018 at Famous Studio in Mahalaxmi, Mumbai.
Design Fabric Festival will be India’s first multi-discipline design festival.
The festival will take place over three days, featuring some of the biggest International and Indian artists & designers from across the design community. Along with an engaging series of talks from these industry leaders, there will be numerous artist-led workshops, exhibits, panel discussions, networking events and after-parties held across the city and open to all.
Here is our list of speakers:
Scott Schuman
Scott Schuman a.k.a The Sartorialist, NYC, fashion photographer who founded The Sartorialist to create a dialogue between the world of fashion and its relationship to everyday life. The man behind the rise of the street style phenomenon, his work has appeared in leading publications across the world.
Basrai Brothers
The Busride Design Studio, Goa, an independent design studio specialising in the creation of built environments, ranging from hospitality and exhibitions to institutional and architectural environments, looking for solutions from the macro to the micro, from the slightly mad to the totally insane.
Hey Studio
Hey Studio, Barcelona, a graphic design and illustration studio specialising in brand identity, editorial design and illustration. Informed by geometry, colour and typography, they transform ideas into communicative graphics.
Peter Zizka
Peter Zizka, Frankfurt, a German designer and conceptual artist, he writes about design for the Swiss Bilanz magazine and is a freelance curator for the Museum für Angewandte Kunst Frankfurt.
Sameer Kulavoor
Sameer Kulavoor, Mumbai, a visual artist working at the intersection of contemporary illustration, graphic design and art. His projects have shaped up as books, zines, art-prints, murals, objects and exhibits.
Tuesday Bassen
Tuesday Bassen, LA, an award-winning artist with a tongue-in-cheek illustrative style. She sells accessories, zines, prints, and owns her eponymous clothing line that inspired by her art.
Rahul Mishra
Rahul Mishra, Delhi, a fashion designer who bagged the International Woolmark Prize in 2014. He founded his eponymous label in 2008, rooted in the idea of working with indigenous craftsmen and artisans to create contemporary Indian fashion.
St+art India
St+art India, a contemporary art revolution conceived to bring art out of the galleries and onto our streets. Now in its second edition, it brings together artists who are turning the country’s walls into canvases.
Nimish Shah
Nimish Shah, Mumbai, an alumnus of London College of Fashion, Nimish launched Shift in 2011. Working extensively with organic handloom textiles, the label creates a range of sophisticated separates, instilled with a keen eye for sustainability.
Christoph Niemann
Christoph Niemann, Berlin, one of the most famous illustrators in the world, he also featured in the first episode of Netflix's Abstract.
Adam J. Kurtz
Adam J. Kurtz, NYC, author & artist of multiple self-help books for creatives, whether you're a designer or not, you've seen his work somewhere.
Bodice
Bodice, New Delhi, the androgynous fashion label carving its presence in the Indian fashion scene, bagged the prestigious International Woolmark Prize in 2018.
Katie Rodgers
Katie Rodgers, NYC, the artist behind @paperfashion, the most celebrated and established fashion illustrator around.
Anthony Burrill
Anthony Burrill, London, designer and printmaker, best know for his typographic compositions, including the famous "Work Hard and Be Nice to People".
V Sunil
V Sunil, New Delhi, one of India's most influential and exciting design thinkers of today, worked with the government and spearheaded the Incredible !ndia and Make in India campaigns.
DIA Studios
DIA Studios, NYC, a Brooklyn-based studio specialising in kinetic identity systems and typography, disrupting graphic design as it exists.
CATK
CATK, Berlin, an avant-garde design studio working across the fields of technology, art and music. Rooted in the Bauhaus tradition, they're exploring new concepts to develop progressive visual and sonic languages.
Orijit Sen
Orijit Sen, New Delhi, a graphic artist, cartoonist and co-founder of People Tree, the man behind River Stories (Kalpavriksh 1994), considered to be India's first graphic novel.
Sarah Naqvi
Sarah Naqvi, Mumbai, a textile artist, is a final semester student at NID (Ahmedabad) exploring female identity through the patriarchal gaze and depicting it in its raw form, highlighting the hypocrisies of a chauvinistic society.
