Contemporary living requires a contemporary vocabulary of stitch. Using just black thread, we will draw on fabric and with all our thread sketches, we will put together a stitch journal at the end of 2 modules. Your drawings will be simple, yet evocative of the urban, digital world you inhabit: slowing down with needle and thread to bring forth a fresh language of stitch. One that reflects your feelings, your engagement with this dynamic, throbbing with life world.

A contemporary language of stitch, which doesn’t require you to be an expert with the needle and thread. Beginners welcome.

To kick start your creativity we will do a module on spontaneous drawing. Where you will draw in different restrictive modes to unleash your inner child and the essence of your creativity These spontaneous drawings, using pen, charcoal and graphite will then be selected and translated onto fabric with thread.
