Join us for an exciting 2-day mime workshop at KNMA Saket on 16-17 November, specially curated for teens! Led by the talented Santanu Mallick, this workshop dives deep into the art of silent expression, using body language, gestures, and facial expressions to tell stories without words. Through creative exercises, teens will learn how to express emotions, build characters, and create powerful, non-verbal performances.
Workshop Overview:
Day 1:
● Introduction to mime and its importance in performing arts.
● Basics of non-verbal storytelling: silence, movement, and clarity.
● Warm-up and facial exercises to enhance control and expression.
● Mastering foundational mime techniques like stillness and simple illusions (e.g., walking against the wind).
● Physical theatre games for team building and creativity.
Day 2:
● Quick recap of Day 1 and warm-up session.
● Advanced mime techniques including complex illusions (e.g., climbing stairs).
● Focus on posture, character, and fluidity of movement.
● Engaging in improvisational games that boost spontaneity and spatial awareness.

Artist bio:
Santanu Mallick is a celebrated theater artist and mime expert with a rich legacy in the performing arts. A graduate of Rabindra Bharati University, Santanu trained rigorously in Ancient Indian Theatre, Kathakali dance, and mime, collaborating with prominent figures like Bimal Chakraborty and Suman Mukhopadhya. Over the years, he has earned significant accolades, including the Song & Drama Division Uttarakhand award in 2004 and a Young Artist Scholarship for Direction and Performance by the Ministry of Culture. His global presence began with his role in Tim Supple’s *Peter Pan* in 2006, which launched his international journey and set the stage for his work at the Doha Film Institute in Qatar.
Upon returning to India, Santanu continued his work in theater education and founded the Dhrii Arts & Welfare Foundation in Delhi. His portfolio of productions, such as *Paul Gomra – A transmigration*, *Macbeth*, and *The Birthday Party*, has been featured in prestigious venues and festivals, including the Rasagjna National Theatre Festival and the Cleveland Museum of Art. Known for his deep understanding of physical theater and expressive performance, Santanu’s artistry in mime and direction has left a lasting impression on audiences worldwide, establishing him as a key figure in both national and international theater communities.
