Forethought India recently conducted an online lecture session on Physics in India. Esteemed professionals from Oxford University generously shared their knowledge during this enlightening session.

Wade Allison holds the position of Emeritus Professor of Physics and is a Fellow of Keble College, Oxford. His extensive research career spans experimental and theoretical Particle Physics, including work at CERN and in the USA. He is credited as the author of approximately 245 scientific publications on ResearchGate. During his tenure at Oxford, he delivered lectures and taught students across various fields, ranging from Mathematics to Medical Physics.

In 2006, Professor Allison authored "Fundamental Physics for Probing and Imaging," a textbook that delved into the effects of radiation. He is renowned for his global lectures on the biological safety of radiation and the pervasive aversion to it that has characterized the past 70 years. In 2009, he penned the accessible book, "Radiation and Reason," which juxtaposed the acceptance of nuclear technology for human health in clinical settings with the fear surrounding its environmental use. Following visits to Fukushima in the wake of the nuclear accident, he published his third book in 2015, titled "Nuclear is for Life." This book explores why nuclear power, despite its potency, is relatively benign and draws insights from multiple disciplines, including physics, biology, history, and more. Although he does not consider himself a nuclear "activist," Professor Allison concludes, based on available evidence, that nuclear power is the sole solution if humanity intends to transition away from fossil fuels to combat climate change.

It`s worth noting that Professor Allison has no affiliations with the nuclear industry and has never received expenses from them. He is a founding member of the global Scientists for Accurate Radiation Information (SARI), and in the UK, he holds the honorary position of Secretary for the Supporters Of Nuclear Energy (SONE).
