National Geographic’s first ever scripted series - Genius looks promising. This limited series on Albert Einstein's life will feature 10 episodes based on Walter Isaacson’s critically acclaimed and best-selling book, Einstein: His Life and Universe.

Genius explores the Nobel-Prize winning scientist Albert Einstein's life as he goes through ups and downs, his time as a patent clerk, his teaching gig and his love life. The show's Executive Producers are Brian Grazer and Ron Howard and it will be written by up-and-coming writer Noah Pink, who will also co-executive produce. Ron Howard will be directing the first episode of the series. “I look forward to National Geographic’s support as we tell this ambitious but intimate and revealing human story behind Einstein’s scientific brilliance,” said Howard. “I hope that his story, as well as those of other geniuses, will both entertain and inspire the next generation of Einsteins.”

We are well aware about Einstein’s scientific contributions, his theories and his work as a physicist. But, rarely does one know about his turbulent personal life, his rebellious nature, his thirst for answers, his struggle to get his ideas acknowledged and his daunting approach towards his love life and relationships. Amidst his volatile personal life, his loyalties questioned, his emigration to United States after Hitler’s appointment, Genius seeks to explore his remarkable scientific brilliance and his effort to unlock the mysteries of the atom and the universe.
The show boasts of an all-star cast. The young Einstein played by British newcomer Johnny Flynn, Academy Award-winning actor Geoffrey Rush plays the elder Einstein, Emily Watson as his second wife, Elsa and Game of Thrones alum Michael McElhatton as physicist Dr. Philipp Lenard. With a cast like this, one can only anticipate the hit the show will turn out to be.
