Sitara Studio is an independently-run arts and cultural venue in the heart of Mumbai, aspiring to programme internationally acclaimed yet locally relevant content.
They have two spaces to offer: a performance area for theatre, music, dance and art related activities; and a mezzanine level where artistes can rehearse. They take pride in their humble location, employ people from the locality, and maintain good relations with our neighbours.
Sitara Studio, aims to curate culturally-relevant and thought-provoking content. Their most recent success was curating and recreating T2F (the Karachi-based venue The 2nd Floor). The programme was in memory of Sabeen Mahmud, the murdered peace activist who ran T2F in Karachi, Pakistan.
In the past, the Studio has hosted HeLa, a play from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival brought down by the British Council and theatre company QTP; and H20, a German play by Helios Theatre.
They have also worked with clients such as the Asia Society, India Foundation for the Arts, MTV Coke Studio, Nirbhaya – the play directed by Yael Farber, OML Entertainment, Oranjuice Entertainment, Sony Music, Red Bull, Budweiser and artists like Karsh Kale and Vishal Dadlani (Pentagram).
