The Japanese form of minimal verse… Haiku, was initiated by Matsuo Basho around the 17th century when the practice of Ukiyo-e woodblock prints had also emerged. Fascinated by both forms, it was the Ukiyo-e works that nudged Bina to write in response to their narratives. While there were other famous poets like Yosa Buson, Kobayashi Issa and later, Masaoka Shiki, it was Basho who rose to continued appreciation until today.

Everyday life can inspire Haiku. It needs quiet time to shape your thoughts. Gift yourself such moments. 

This session hopefully inspires you to imagine… to unpack your thoughts into the sublime space of three lines and seventeen syllables… into a bonsai poem.
